2022 GMC Yukon It’s been booming. In terms of big muscles, the three-line family carrier, toy tow, the GMC Yukon, and Yukon XL 2022 will be hard to beat when they go on sale this summer.
Redesigned from scratch for 2022, the new Yukon borrows mechanics from the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban but goes its way with a unique look and some new features.
Three engines will be offered – two V-8 kinds of petrol and a six-line turbo-diesel – all mated to a 10-speed automatic operated via GMC’s signature push-button gear selector.
The cab is more spacious and better equipped than last year’s model and the cargo space has also increased – all the better for family vacations, trips to the Home Depot, and tailgating parties.
This seven-seat SUV is bigger than ever, with more luxury fittings in and under it, and the Yukon Denali’s top-top trim rubs off the old-looking SUV for a richer interior adapted to a high dollar carrier.
2022 GMC Yukon Preview
The GMC Yukon’s slide into the 2022 model year hasn’t changed, but that doesn’t mean the big SUV will be any softer.
The Yukon received a top-down redesign for 2021 with an emphasis on interior space and technology. Compared to the previous generation, the current Yukon is significantly more passenger and freight friendly and a leap forward in terms of safety and infotainment features.
The switch to independent suspension last year resulted in a 41 percent increase in legroom in the third row and a 30 percent increase in cargo space. The Yukon can easily accommodate up to eight passengers plus 25.5 cubic feet of cargo.
When the second and third rows are folded, the balloon’s capacity is 122.9 cubic feet. The elongated Yukon XL offers 41.1 cubic feet with a full crew and an incredibly roomy 144.7 cubic feet with a bottom row.
Each Yukon is equipped with a 10.2-inch floating touchscreen, HD and satellite radio, seven USB ports, a Bose sound system with nine speakers, wireless device charging, and wireless Apply CarPlay and Android Auto. All models can be equipped with a dual-screen rear media system.
The standard interior is equipped with leather seats and heated front seats. The mid-range SLT is available with folding second and third-row seats, driver memory settings, an electrically adjustable heated steering wheel, and a panoramic sliding roof.
These features are standard on most high-end Denali, along with upgraded leather and the promise of real wood.
Most Yukon models will likely carry a 5.3-liter V8 engine producing 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Denali gets a 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces up to 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.
The engine list includes an optional 3.0-liter turbodiesel six-cylinder that gives a combined EPA estimate of 23 miles per gallon, an incredible efficiency for an SUV of this size. All-wheel drive is available for each engine and is standard on the all-terrain AT4 model. Properly equipped, the Yukon can tow up to 8,400 pounds.
The Yukon continues to offer extensive driver assistance functions, including automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and front and rear parking sensors.
Denali goes a step further with a surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control, and a 15-inch heads-up display. A trailer camera system with nine different views is available for all models.
2022 GMC Yukon AT4
Also new for 2022: an off-road-leaning version of the Yukon AT4 that adds thick tires, skid plates, and a low-range transfer box – if any Yukons dare to leave the road.
Mechanically similar to the Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet Suburban 2022, the GMC Yukon 2020 will be powered by a choice of two V-8s or an optional 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-6.
The powertrains are no stranger: the 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V-8, 277-hp 3.0-liter turbodiesel, and 6.2-liter V-8 at the top of the stack will deliver 420 hp.
Like the previous model, this SUV is available in a standard or long-wheelbase configuration, which is called the Yukon XL.
All engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel drive is standard, although automatic four-wheel drive will be a popular upgrade.
The Yukon 2022 rides on a frame that uses four-wheel independent suspension for the first time.
The front and rear suspensions can be equipped with optional air suspension, which can raise or lower the SUV by 4 inches over difficult terrain or settle on long slopes toward the ski chalet.
GMC’s adaptive dampers are intended to extinguish damaged roads and work with the four-wheel-drive system, air suspension, an electronic limited-slip differential available at the rear to help provide a smoother ride.
2022 GMC Yukon Denali
GMC said it would launch the Super Cruise at 1500 Denali, which is the Sierra’s most expensive and luxurious trim.
It is scheduled to arrive for the 2022 model year, but GMC Yukon 2020 qualifies it by saying “the end of the 2022 model year.”
That means it’s probably coming to an end, with 2023 slated as Super Cruise’s first full year on the Sierra 1500.
GM also claims that the upcoming version of the Super Cruise to Sierra is attractive. Yeah, hands-free tow, man. We’re also a little restless.
The technology is the same as the latest generation Super Cruise, which comes with Cadillac CT5 and CT4.
This is an enhanced version with more capabilities than the first generation system that won the Technology of the Year award from Autoblog several years ago.
However, questions still have to be answered. GM hasn’t said anything about how much it will cost on the Sierra 1500.
We also don’t know anything about the Sierra 1500’s other trim levels; and what about the Silverado 1500? It makes sense that GM would give away the Sierra Super Cruise first, but it’s definitely compatible with current Chevy truck versions.
As for other GMC products, GM is silent when they will be blessed with a Super Cruise.
The redesigned Yukon would be the most obvious candidate to be the flagship product, but GM says program timing works best for launch in the 2022 Sierra, not the Yukon.
Most likely the SUV will be updated with this system shortly.
As well as the Super Cruise, GMC photos also reveal that the Sierra 2022 is getting a fully digital instrument cluster.
This is definitely an optional item, but it can become standard in 2022 GMC Yukon Denali.
2022 Yukon Concept
GM has flipped the speedometer and tachometer to opposite sides, but their digital version still has the straight GMC display.
You can see the Super Cruise chart in the middle, and all gauges are lowered to the bottom of the screen.
But wait, there’s more. The photo also shows the beginnings of a completely new interior design, different from the current Sierra, standard Yukon, and 2022 Yukon Denali interiors.
It is immediately and distinctly different everywhere we look.
The air vents are right to the right of the new steering wheel and horizontal where previously vertical.
It looks similar in design to the 2022 GMC Yukon Denali, but the button movers are not visible – probably still large rods in the column.
Instead, we can see the volume knob and touch screen startup.
And if the screen starts there, it’s most likely a big one. GM has gone a step further by redesigning the hood over the instrument cluster as well.
Just like the rest of the area, it didn’t look like Sierra at this time.
2022 Yukon Interior
Well here it is, the interior is available in a variety of flavors – from the basic specifications of the SLE to the luxurious Denali – the Yukon and Yukon XL with their long-wheelbase promise to seat up to eight passengers.
Although reserving the popular second-row captain’s seat would bring down the total seating capacity to seven.
Top 2022 Yukon Denali models offer unique interior designs with woodcut dashboards and hand-sewn leather seats.
The new slide-power center console is available in the SLT, AT4, and Denali models and allows the driver to move the center console back and forth through the 10-inch track to make room for larger first-line cargo such as a bag or backpack. and keep other small items out of sight in hidden cubes.
The cargo capacity is huge, especially in the larger XL model, which offers a maximum cargo space of 145 cubic feet with all seats stowed.
That’s more than its cross-city rival, the Ford Expedition Max (which has 121.5 cubic feet behind the front seat row).
When we get a new Yukon to test, we’ll fill it with our carry-on cases to see how much can fit inside.
All Yukon models come with large infotainment displays with the latest IntelliLink interface from GMC Yukon 2020.

We’ve found the system easy to use on other models but haven’t tested it on the new Yukon.
The SLE, SLT, and AT4 models feature a display that stands tall in the center of the dashboard, but the 2022 Yukon Denali is surrounded by bright chrome and embedded in the dashboard for a more sophisticated look.
Apple CarPlay / Android Auto integration and 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot will all be standard equipment; Bose navigation and audio systems will be optional features.
2022 Yukon Denali Exterior
On the exterior of 2022, Yukon Denali adds LED headlamps and taillights as well as a large, wide, upright chrome grille that is smooth like a four-finger ring and gold teeth.
The AT4 pulls out a chrome grille for black and matte black, complemented by a red tow hook upfront and a skid plate that works with the Yukon AT4’s 32-degree approach angle to make off-roading easier.
The AT4 has standard four-wheel drive, Goodyear A / T tires on 20-inch wheels, heated seats, and a heated steering wheel.
Compared to the previous version, the new Yukon is almost 6 inches long with a wheelbase of nearly 5 inches longer.
The biggest change was for riders in the third row who got nearly 35 inches of legroom, more than 10 inches in the previous version.
The cargo capacity of the Yukon too, with all three rows of seats in place, Yukon accommodates 25.5 cubic feet of gear or 122.9 cubics by storing the second and third rows.
Yukon XL is also bigger. It rides on a wheelbase of more than 4 inches, and the third-row rider gets nearly 37 inches of legroom.
With rows two and three in place, the Yukon XL holds 41.1 cubic feet of cargo, or 144.7 cubic feet, with the rows unobstructed.

2022 GMC Yukon Denali Exterior Colors
The GMC Yukon 2022 will ditch the two available exterior colors previously offered in 2021MY.
Dark Sky Metallic and Smokey Quartz Metallic exterior colors have been discontinued for the 2022 GMC Yukon. Additionally, a new exterior color has been introduced for 2022MY in the way of Redwood Metallic.
Dark Sky Metallic, for readers who may not be aware of it, is a light blue exterior color that costs $495 to set on the 2021 GMC Yukon. Smokey Quartz Metallic, meanwhile, is a beige brownish hue that also costs $495. Redwood Metallic is an all-new exterior color for General Motors and hasn’t been officially featured as of this writing, although we assume it will be a deep red/burgundy color based on its name.
The GMC Yukon received a comprehensive redesign for 2021MY and as such, GM has only implemented very minor changes to its popular full-size SUV for 2022. The 2022 Yukon will introduce standard Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning and will also feature a new information cluster. standard 12-inch digital driver.
GM has also made the 6.2L L87 V8 petrol engine available in the off-road focus AT4 trim level for 2022. Previously, the AT4 trim was only available to order with the 5.3L L84 V8 petrol engine.
The 6.2L V8 L87 is the most powerful engine available to the GMC Yukon, producing 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The 5.3L V8 L84 petrol engine has 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque.
The 3.0L LM2 Duramax inline-six turbodiesel engine will also return for 2022MY and will continue to produce 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. All three engines available on the 2022 GMC Yukon are paired with a GM 10-speed automatic transmission and standard rear-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive is also available at a premium, although it comes as standard on the AT4 model.
The 2022 GMC Yukon will enter production at GM’s Arlington Assembly plant in Texas later this year.
2022 Yukon Denali Engine
Similar to the last generation Yukon, two V-8 engines will be offered: 355-hp 5.3-liter and 420-hp 6.2-liter.
In addition to the petrol burner, GMC will also offer a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel diesel engine that produces 460 lb-ft of torque and should be an option for buyers who intend to pull heavy goods.
All models come with a 10-speed automatic transmission which is operated by a push-button panel on the dashboard and will offer rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.
The off-road-oriented AT4 model joins the lineup for the first time in 2022 and is equipped with a two-speed transfer box,
20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, underbody slip plates, and an optional air suspension capable of offering up to two ground clearance. another inch.
2022 GMC Yukon Diesel
When car makers offer gasoline and diesel engines in their trucks, they will usually charge a premium for the diesel engines.
However, the 2021 GMC Yukon Denali rejects this trend, as the oil burner available in the SUV is actually cheaper to equip than the V8.
The base price for the GMC Yukon Denali 2021 with the GM 6.2L L87 V8 engine is $ 69,695.
However, this price drops to $ 68,195 when the available GM 3.0L LM2 in-line Duramax turbo-diesel engine is equipped, representing a significant savings of $ 1,500.
This discount compounds the fuel-saving potential that the 3.0L LM2 diesel engine offers as well.
While the official EPA certified fuel economy rating for the GMC Yukon Denali 2021 diesel has yet to be released,

While the GMC Sierra 2021 trim equipped with a 6.2L L87 V8 engine is rated at 16 mpg city, 20 mpg highway. and 17 mpg combined – an increase of about 30 percent.
The 3.0L LM2 Turbodiesel has 277 horsepower and 460-pound feet of torque and is paired exclusively with GM’s 10-speed automatic transmission in the range of trucks and SUVs it offers.
Engines are offered as final availability options at the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL and the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban for the 2021 model year.
Orders for the diesel-engine version of the SUV will open in November.
2022 GMC Yukon Changes
The GMC Yukon and Yukon XL are new for 2022 and add the off-road trim AT4 that GMC has rolled out in the lineup.
The all-new Yukon now offers an optional turbo-diesel engine, and while the available V-8 gas engines are largely leftover from 2020, they feature improved cylinder deactivation technology.
2022 GMC Yukon MPG
In terms of EPA forecasts, the Yukon 2022 isn’t very fuel-efficient, but it performs slightly better in cities than the model it replaces.
The Yukons equipped with the smaller 5.3 liter V-8 is the most efficient petrol-powered model and earns a city rating of 16 mpg, highway 20 mpg, and a combined 18 mpg.
The turbo-diesel engine will likely get a better estimate, but the figure is yet to be released.
We haven’t had a chance to test the new Yukon through the 200-mile highway fuel-economy test, but we’ll update this story with results as we do.

2022 GMC Yukon Denali Price and Release Date
2022 Yukon Denali Release Date Chances are the general price will go up but not too expensive The Base 2022 Yukon model costs only $ 100 more than last year’s truck,
Regardless of whether you choose the standard rear-wheel-drive layout or the optional four-wheel drive layout.
That puts the cheapest Yukon you can get – the SLE trim – at $ 51,995, or $ 54,995 if you want to go all four wheels.
Of course, the GMC Yukon 2022 maintains a premium over the new Tahoe, which starts at $ 50,295, but the gap between the two is pretty tight.
Ford’s competitor Expedition starts at $ 55,150 for the rear-drive model. Prices for the best Cadillac Escalade are yet to be announced, which have also been redesigned for 2022.
Return to the Yukon. The entry-level SLE is pretty good considering all the new stuff you get, including a fresher exterior and interior design,
Standard automatic emergency braking, and a smoother independent rear suspension (the old Yukon rode with the old school solid rear axle).
The entry-level version of the larger Yukon XL model, which uses a longer wheelbase and is overall longer – received no price increases,
And still starts at $ 54,695 with rear-wheel drive and $ 57,695 with four-wheel drive.
Again, Ford’s equivalent Expedition Max – a longer version of the regular Expedition – costs a little more, at $ 58,175 with rear-wheel drive.
Prices for the new off-road-focused Yukon AT4 start at $ 66,095. Available exclusively on 4WD, the larger Yukon gets 20-inch all-terrain tires,
A two-speed transfer case, a unique interior, and a maximum of two inches of ground clearance with the available air suspension.
If you want a fancy version of the Denali, as about 60 percent of last-generation Yukon buyers did, expect to pay at least $ 69,695.
That’s $ 700 up from the previous version, a negligible amount. Likewise, the Yukon XL Denali is only $ 600 more expensive for the new year.
Denalis upgraded from standard Yukon 5.3 liter V-8 to 6.2 liters V-8 producing 420 horsepower.
The Denali models now feature very luxuriously exclusive interiors with genuine wood trim and hand-sewn leather surfaces.
Other features at Denali include a large chrome grille, 15-inch head-up display, surround-view camera, and Magnetic Ride Control.
While the release schedule so far we don’t know the exact date the 2022 Yukon will be published, we will continue to update the latest information.
