2024 GMC Sierra is expected to bring minor changes to the Light-Duty Sierra 1500 model after a major refresh for the 2022 model year.
Meanwhile, the Heavy-Duty Sierra 2500HD and Sierra 3500HD models will receive a major refresh for 2024, including new front and rear designs, a new interior, along with potential powertrain updates.
It’s worth noting that this refresh was originally slated for the 2023 model year, but the product cycle was delayed due to complications caused by COVID-19 and a shortage of superconducting chips.
Apart from that, the current fourth-generation Sierra HD pickup is performing very well in the market.
2024 GMC Sierra Review
The GMC Sierra HD 2024 is slated for similar changes to the smaller version, the Sierra 1500. The biggest question is, “Will the HD get the same new interior?” With the capture of a new set of spy photos, we finally got our answer. However, there is a surprise.
Minor changes follow a substantial update as part of a mid-cycle upgrade/refresh for the 2022 model year. A substantial update as part of a mid-cycle upgrade/refresh for the 2024 model year.

2024 GMC Sierra Redesign
We can point to one clear difference in this HD prototype, compared to the changes made to its light and fresh sibling: It’s the column slider.
While the work-spec Silverado 1500 trim and the GMC Sierra 1500 PRO are the only models to retain their column shifters, they do so without the large 13.4” screen and other high-tech features.
However, on this HD prototype, we noticed that the column shift was retained, along with a much-improved infotainment screen.
It’s unclear if the current Sierra HD’s low-end interior will still play on the updated HD PRO trim, or if column shifters are a fixture across the HD Sierra lineup, or if they’ll be missing in the top-tier Denali. cut.

2024 GMC Sierra Serra 1500
GMC distinguishes the Sierra 1500 from the mechanical twin of the Chevrolet Silverado with its exclusive feature content and premium materials.
That’s important, as competition is fierce in the full-size truck segment, with the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500 also worthy of attention. Coming soon, the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 EV will help the automaker step up its game with an expected driving range of around 400 miles on a single charge.
The non-electric GMC Sierra 1500 should continue to offer a range of possible engines including a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, 5.3-liter V-8, 6.2-liter V-8, and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel six-cylinder.
On top of this option, GMC will introduce the all-electric Sierra. If the upcoming Chevrolet Silverado EV is any indication, GMC should make up to 664 hp and 780 lb-ft of torque in max power mode, and offer a range of 400 miles.
DC fast charging should be standard equipment on the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 EV.
The GMC Sierra 1500 should continue to be standard with automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, forward collision warning, automatic high l, right, and lane change warning with side blind zone warning.
GMC will also offer Super Cruise, a competent driving aid that allows hands-free cruising on the highway. From what we’ve experienced with this feature so far, it’s even better than Tesla’s Autopilot.
These recent photos finally confirm the Sierra 1500’s influence on the interior of the refreshed GMC HD lineup, while also proving that the photos aren’t 100% carbon.
We’ll be aiming to take a closer look at the details on future prototypes, to capture further differences between light duty and modern HD to be released in 2023.
2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD
The 2024 GMC Sierra Heavy-Duty model is set to receive a major refresh for 2024, including new front and rear designs, a new interior, along with potential powertrain updates.
It’s worth noting that this refresh was originally slated for the 2023 model year, but the product cycle was delayed due to complications caused by COVID-19 and a shortage of superconducting chips.
Apart from that, the currfourth-generationtion Sierra HD pickup is performing very well in the market.
The GMC Sierra HD 2024 will introduce a full model refresh for the heavy-duty pickup nameplate, ushering in a long list of changes and updates to the exterior, interior, trim level li, up, and powertrain.
Well, here we present interesting details on the revised exterior of the GMC Sierra HD 2024, especially the turn signal lights.
This new “swipe” or “swipe” animation effect for the Sierra HD contrasts with the turn signal indicator on the completely refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500, the latter flashing an entire LED lighting signature, as recently detailed by GM Authority.
As such, this small lighting detail will provide more design separation between the updated GMC Sierra HD 2024 and the updated GMC Sierra 1500 2022.
In addition to the new exterior design, the updated GMC Sierra HD 2024 will also have an overhauled cockpit, which will incorporate a 13.4-inch infotainment screen mounted above a horizontal hard-key setup.
A new instrument panel (measuring cluster) will also be present and accounted for. And we’d be remiss not to mention the upcoming Sierra HD AT4X model, as GM Authority was the first to report back in March.
Under the hood, the updated 2024 GMC Sierra HD will be fitted with GM’s newer 10-speed automatic transmission when fitted with the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T petrol engine.
Meanwhile, the Duramax turbodiesel 6.6L V8 L5D will get a substantial increase in output, up to around 1,100 pound-feet of torque and over 500 horsepower.

New GMC Sierra EV 2024
Scheduled for a late 2022 reveal as a 2024 model, the GMC Sierra EV is on track to become the third electric vehicle for the GMC brand. Preceded by the Hummer EV Pickup and SUV, which serve as an EV halo for the automaker, the Sierra will be positioned at a lower price point accessible to mainstream pickup consumers.
So far, the company is playing its cards near the vest, with one image and 18-second video of the pickup truck’s exterior lighting sequence giving only a hint of the final design.
Beyond that, specific details about the Sierra EV are scarce. However, we do know it will be built alongside the recently launched Chevrolet Silverado EV at General Motors’ Zero Factory Assembly Plant in Detroit and Hamtramck, Mich, and share the same Ultium unibody platform and battery system.
The GMC Sierra is typically positioned as a luxury version of the Silverado, nearly identical under the hood and sharing the same chassis, drivetrain, and cabin design. (The same analogy applies to GMC HD Trucks and SUVs.) The more premium GMC brands are generally distinguished by high-end interior materials, external chrome details, and advanced mechanical and technological feature product marketing strategy will likely remain the same when the Sierra EV arrives in 2024; However, there are rumors that the GMC Sierra EV could sport a completely different sheet metal.
Based on this information, it makes complete sense that the Sierra will have an identical powertrain offering as the Silverado EV, suggesting the first model will share General Motors’ estimated 400-mile range on a full charge and come standard equipped with DC fast charging capability. up to 350 kilowatts.
Using a DC charger, the driver should be able to add about 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes. Similarly, the Silverado EV Rally Sport Truck (RST) model offers a Wide Open Watt Mode that produces at least 664 horsepower and 780 feet of torque to hit 60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds according to the manufacturer.
The base Work Truck version of the Silverado EV will offer 510 horsepower and 615 feet of torque and be capable of towing up to 8,000 pounds and 1,200 pounds of payload. An unnamed trim with a 20,000-pound max tow is also on its way.
On the front structure, we once again think the Sierra will share the Silverado EV’s adaptive suspension and four-wheel steering and bring a maximum tow rating of up to 10,000 pounds and a payload of 1,300 pounds.
The multiflex tailgate has six positions and, when lowered, extends the floor of the bed by up to 130 inches.
The interior of the Silverado is equipped with an 11-inch driver instrument screen, a heads-up display, and a 17-inch LCD infotainment screen; Ultifi’s software and electronics platforms allow vehicles to receive over-the-air updates and feature enhancements as they become available. We expect GMC to use similar infotainment technology and software.
Just as the Silverado EV will launch first with the RST trim fully loaded, the Sierra EV will debut as the ultimate Denali spec set, usually the most luxurious and high-performance variant for the GMC brand. The company has not announced the availability of base or fleet models for the Sierra EV.
Combined sales for the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra will be 768,689 units in 2021. Both nameplates were redesigned for the 2022 model year and feature new interiors, offering an optional Super Cruise and new off-road and luxury packages.
A pair of EV variants will only increase General Motors’ footprint in the pickup arena.
2024 GMC Sierra Electric
General Motors posted a teaser of another new, electric GMC today with the promise we’ll see a premium electric truck next year.
The Sierra teaser focuses on the front grille and the look of the lights it can be attached to. In keeping with the trend for many future vehicles, dynamic lighting has become a way to amaze and engage customers.
Like the Hummer EV pickup and the Hummer GMC 2024 SUV, whose headlights feature the giant “Hummer” lettering on the front, the Sierra illuminates the giant GMC logo.
The strong front end is framed by dramatic L-shaped headlights. Directional and dynamic turn signals. In other words, it looks like the current Sierra and unlike the new Hummer (which also bears the GMC badge).
The sierra will be the third electric vehicle in the GMC lineup, potentially making it a 2024 model after the Hummer SUV.
Despite being cheaper than the Hummer truck, the electric Sierra will cost more than the Chevrolet Silverado electric pickup that is also in the works. The Silverado will debut on January 5 at CES in Las Vegas.
GMC is the more premium brand, and as such the electric Sierra will only be offered in the top Denali trim.
“Sierra Denali holds tremendous equity for GMC and our customers,” said GMC global vice president Duncan Aldred in a statement. “We now have the opportunity to develop Sierra’s capabilities and technologies, as provided by the transition to all-electric drive while also enhancing the design and luxury comfort associated with Denali.”
Like the GMC Hummer EV, the electric Sierra will be intentionally built on the Ultium Platform, using the Ultium battery management system.
We hope the truck follows suit and has a glass roof and four-wheel steering — or, at least, offers the trick.
2024 GMC Sierra AT4
The off-road pickup truck segment will be one of the fastest growing and most competitive among automakers in recent times. As off-road and Overlanding continue to grow in popularity, the three Detroit automakers rotate trucks of varying sizes, and with different levels of capability.
While General Motors may not currently have the equivalent F-150 Raptor or Ram 1500 TRX in their lineup, offerings focused on the company’s footprint should not be overlooked.
The Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is a standout performer in its own right, while the Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss and GMC Sierra AT4 truck represent a step up from the standard model.
Thanks to some info from our spy sources, we now know that an updated 2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4 with some Denali-inspired gear might be in the works. Here’s what you need to know.
The current GMC Sierra HD AT4 brings a relatively light amount of off-road hardware to the brand’s luxury pickups, compared to the Ram HD Power Wagon and Ford Super Duty Tremor.
Based on the SLT trim, the AT4 pack’s items like a 2-inch suspension lift, Rancho monotube shocks, 18 or 20-inch alloy wheels, Goodyear Wrangler tires, and underbody skid plates.
A two-speed transfer box and a locking rear differential are also part of the package, which works in tandem with additional software such as Hill Descent Control and GMC’s Traction Select System.
Visually, the truck is identifiable by its unique grille treatment, dual exhausts, red tow hooks, and dark chrome accents. This formula will likely remain unchanged for the 2024 model year refresh for GM’s HD trucks.
That being said, GM has tested the new 2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4 with a set of chrome wheels that Denali models usually order.
MC&T sources have indicated that GMC doesn’t intend to unify the Denali and AT4 trims anytime soon, so it’s possible that these Denali wheels could be offered on the new Sierra HD AT4 as an RPO factory option or an LPO dealer-installed accessory.
New GMC Sierra Interior
We’ve just seen a completely undisguised interior on the facelifted GMC Sierra HD prototype, giving us a good feel for the changes aimed at the updated truck.
The interior looks identical to—or heavily influenced by—the updated Sierra 1500 GMC. The infotainment screen seems to match the 13.4” diagonal screen, while the dashboard layout, button arrangement, and HVAC vent placement all seem consistent with a single screen. from a more basic Sierra configuration—if 1500 is anything to go by.
The exposed interior comes from the Sierra 3500 HD Dual Rear Wheel prototype, whose attributes seem to be a mix of lower-level trim.
The base wheels are from the PRO trim, while the chrome window trim, chrome door handles, and chrome-encrusted side mirrors look like the Sierra with the SLT specs.
The grille looks like Denali’s, but almost all Sierra HD prototypes seen to date have been equipped with this grille, regardless of the trim level being tested. The prototype also lacks the standard Denali running board, indicating a sub-Denali configuration.

The same basic architecture is also used on the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2021 Chevrolet Suburban, 2021 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, and 2021 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV.
The 2024 Sierra Heavy Duty model will continue to use a more capable version of the same GM T1 platform

2024 GMC Sierra Price
Pricing for the GMC Sierra EV has yet to be announced. However, the premium Sierra truck line is typically priced higher than the corresponding Silverado nameplate.
In comparison, the base model Silverado EV Work Truck is projected to have an MSRP starting at $39,900, excluding destination fees.
GM says it expects to offer some additional trim at a price point of between $50,000 and $80,000 and leave the door open for the high-end model.
For apples-to-oranges comparison, the 2022 petrol-powered Sierra 1500 starts at $56,800, excluding the $1,695 destination fee.
The Sierra EV’s price has to match the existing lineup to compete on its own. Expect the price of the Sierra EV to increase rapidly when adding upgrades.
