Naturally, the refresh will contain a slew of critical tweaks and modifications, many of which GM Authority has already found, so we’ve compiled everything we know and expect from the revamped 2025 GMC Yukon and its longer counterpart, the 2025 GMC Yukon XL.
Let’s define certain terminology first before we discuss the adjustments. The Yukon 2025 will be a refresh, also known as a Mid-Cycle Enhancement (MCE) or upgrade. In other words, it will not be a completely new car but rather an upgrade to the present fifth-generation model, which is, as the name suggests, in the middle of its life cycle.
That implies the 2025 GMC Yukon will remain a full-size SUV, with the vast bulk of its components carried over from the current generation model. The front and back fascias will be redesigned, as will the wheel sizes and designs. The interior will be revamped, notably the cockpit. A new turbo-diesel engine is also expected, as is 5G connectivity to replace the existing models’ 4G connection.

If you’re a fan of this unofficial renderings channel, this isn’t surprising. Some of the latest designs, such as the “all-new” 2024-2025 Mercedes-Benz V-Class and 2025-2026 Kia Carnival, seem to be created using the same CGI. While it is unlikely that a sixth iteration of the SUV will be released so soon, since the fifth generation was just launched in early 2020, we can still explore a hypothetical mid-life cycle facelift.
So, the design we are looking at is mostly a hypothetical mid-life cycle facelift rather than a complete redesign. However, it’s a design that not only appeals to classic GMC Yukon enthusiasts but also features a unique LED display that could even make the BMW X7 LCI’s split-headlight design a bit envious. Considering the trend of ever-growing grilles on GM’s SUVs, it’s not surprising to see an abundance of LEDs as well. It’s essential to keep in mind that this is all just speculative and not something to get too worked up about.

What’s New in 2025?
Because the GMC Yukon is practically the same as the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, we expect an identical mid-generation facelift for those SUVs. This includes new looks, a more powerful diesel engine, improved base suspension, a relocated gear shifter, and updated technology such as 4G Wi-Fi being replaced by a 5G system.
2025 GMC Yukon Refresh
The 2025 GMC Yukon is a full-size body-on-frame SUV capable of hauling the entire family and all their luggage and still powerful enough to tow a trailer. The 2025 Yukon model will debut later this year with significant refreshments, including revised front-end styling and a larger infotainment screen.

The updated Yukon has smaller headlights that now have part of the body above them rather than spanning the entire area inside bracket-shaped LED running lights. There’s also a redesigned mesh on the grille. The Denali type in these photos has stacked rectangular elements in chrome. The revised front fascia includes a pair of chrome strips that shine the big SUV’s face.
The 2025 GMC Yukon’s side has no styling changes. It rides on a new set of wheels with six bracket-shaped elements that face inward around the rim.
Minor changes to the rear appearance include a metallic strip connecting the top of the taillights. The Denali brand is now prominent on the hatchback above the number plate. The revised bumper now incorporates the exhaust pipes into its design instead of letting them hang beneath it.
The 2025 Yukon has a large, portrait-oriented infotainment screen in the dashboard’s center. The layout is similar to the 15-inch diagonal screen inside the 2024 Acadia. Physical buttons protrude from the bottom, and vertically oriented HVAC vents are on each side. The digital instrument cluster appears to be carried over from the existing SUV.
More information needs to be available about drivetrain changes for the 2025 Yukon. The SUV currently has a 5.3-liter V8 engine rated at 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque and a 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 420 hp and torque. 460 lb-ft. Lastly, the 3.0-liter inline-six turbodiesel engine produces 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.
GMC will use the 2025 Yukon as part of the brand’s rollout to other countries. For the first time, the SUV will be offered in the United States, Australia, China, and New Zealand.

Sure, they could look at the Chevy Tahoe or Suburban, as they all share a common ancestor. However, GMC’s offering is marginally more upmarket, though not nearly at Cadillac standards. However, several of our consumer reviews were content with the luxury Denali trim and did not want to pay an extra $20K for an Escalade.

The base model is expected to feature a 5.3-liter V8 engine that can produce up to 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. The higher-end models, such as the Denali, are rumored to have a 6.2-liter V8 engine that can generate up to 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are expected to come with a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, although all-wheel drive may be an option.
In terms of fuel economy, the 2025 GMC Yukon is expected to have an EPA rating of 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway, which is similar to the 2020 model. However, the fuel economy may be slightly better due to the rumored addition of a hybrid engine option.
2025 GMC Yukon Redesign
Unofficial 2025 GMC Yukon Rendering Shows Evolutionary Design Updates. GM’s truck-based sport utility vehicles were wholly rebuilt in 2020 for the 2021 model year. All of them will get a mid-cycle facelift in 2024 that goes beyond exterior design.
Although it is scheduled to debut in late 2024 for the 2025 model year, Detroit’s largest carmaker has already announced the facelifted Tahoe and Suburban. GMC, which sits just behind Chevrolet in GM’s brand hierarchy, will be the next to reveal the facelifted Yukon and somewhat larger Yukon XL.
The folks at Halo oto have already rendered the mid-cycle refresh, however it’s unclear how much of this unofficial design study will make it into the final product. In terms of the front end, Halo Otto’s pixel artist chose headlamps with a similar C-like signature as the 2024 GMC Yukon.
A close study reveals that the headlamps were clearly inspired by GMC’s first-ever production electric truck. The fog lights and turn signals are also style cues from the Sierra EV. The rear end of the design study is very identical to the 2024 GMC Yukon, aside from the quad exhaust tailpipes that would be better suited to a supercharged V8 powertrain.
Unfortunately, General Motors would not enable GMC to borrow the Escalade-V’s LT4 small block. In the grand scheme of things, a gas-guzzling eighter doesn’t make much sense as GM shifts to electric muscle on the skateboard-like BT1 platform. Unlike the unibody-specific BEV3, this platform underlies body-on-frame trucks and SUVs, including the Sierra above EV, Hummer EV, Silverado EV, and, of course, the Escalade IQ.
Electric versions of the Tahoe/Suburban and Yukon/Yukon XL are expected to be available by 2026 and, like the examples above, will be powered by the BT1 design. Meanwhile, the Yukon’s internal combustion engines will remain the 5.3-liter small block, its 6.2-liter sister, and a six-cylinder turbo diesel with 3.0 liters.
The gas-powered engines received no changes for the 2025 Tahoe and Suburban, although the Duramax-branded I6 did. The diesel engine is more potent than the 6.2er, producing 305 horsepower at 3,750 revolutions per minute and 495 pound-feet (or 671 Newton meters in the metric system) at 2,750 revolutions per minute. The interior of the Yukon will have the 17.7-inch touchscreen found in the new Tahoe and Suburban.
When paired with an 11-inch digital instrument cluster, the touchscreen is slightly canted towards the driver. A new center console, new ornamental trim, and other visual upgrades are also on the agenda. In terms of convenience features, the Tahoe and Suburban’s AutoSense Power Liftgate will be carried over to the Yukon and Yukon XL.
General Motors, located in Detroit, will sweeten the offer even more by providing improved handling and a more refined ride thanks to an upgraded rear suspension design (still multi-link). Last but not least, potential consumers could anticipate steering calibrations for a better driving experience.

2025 GMC Yukon Refresh

2025 GMC Yukon Interior
2025 GMC Yukon We don’t have any details about the revised interior for 2025, but the cabin size and layout remain the same as on the 2024 model.
The Yukon and long-wheelbase Yukon XL offer seating for up to eight passengers. However, ordering the famous second-row captain’s chairs, which will undoubtedly be available again in 2025, drops the total seating capacity to seven. The Denali model will almost certainly offer a unique interior design with a wood-trimmed dashboard and hand-stitched leather seats.
We expect the current model’s power sliding center console, available on SLT and AT4 (standard on the Denali), to continue. This allows the driver to move the center console back and forth on a 10-inch rail to make room for more oversized first-row cargo, such as a purse or backpack, and to store smaller items out of sight in hidden cubbies.
The 2025 GMC Yukon’s cargo capacity is quite generous, especially on the larger XL model, which offers a maximum cargo space of 145 cubic feet with all seats stowed. That’s bigger than its other city rival, the Ford Expedition Max, which has 122 cubic feet behind its front-row seats. The standard-length Yukon provides enough room for six carry-on bags behind its third-row seats. With the third and second rows stowed, we could fit 35 bags.
The cockpit of the 2025 GMC Yukon will be redesigned, including a new digital instrument panel (gauge cluster) and a larger infotainment screen. Though the specific sizes of the displays are unknown at this time, we do know that these modifications will result in numerous revisions to the center stack and dash as a whole.
It’s unknown whether the Denali and Denali Ultimate models will retain their distinct cockpit layouts or if all trim levels will use the same design.
Along with the improvements to the dash and screen, a new shifter mechanism will replace the current push-pull configuration with a lever on the right side of the steering column. This digital lever has been featured on various GM models, but the all-new 2024 GMC Acadia is the first GMC model to receive it.
Claustrophobic? Get a Yukon, or even better, a Yukon XL, since there’s plenty of space in all three seating rows, and the Yukon XL adds more cargo space and even more legroom in the third row. In any case, average-sized folks don’t have to fight over who gets to sit in which row.
We anticipate a minor overhaul of the dashboard this year to fit a massive 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen as standard equipment, paired with an 11-inch digital driver information display.
Cargo space that is unrivaled in its class
In terms of cargo volume, the Yukon XL, like its Suburban sibling, outperforms the Ford Expedition Max and Jeep Wagoneer L. There are 41.5 cubic feet behind the third row. 93.8 cubic feet behind the second row with the third row folded. 144.7 cubic feet behind the first row, with all other seats folding. Basically, if you need to transport anything more significant, you should hire a U-Haul or contact a moving firm. The regular-length Yukon is likewise outstanding, with a capacity range of 25.5 to 122.9 cubic feet.
Inside, the 2025 GMC Yukon features a high-quality and spacious cabin, complete with premium materials and advanced technology. The cabin is roomy and comfortable, with plenty of space for passengers and cargo. The interior of the Yukon has been updated and refreshed for 2025 with new color schemes, materials, and finishes. The dashboard features a sleek and modern design, with a large touchscreen display in the center console. There are two body sizes.
With the Yukon or Yukon XL, you can go big or go home, but there are additional factors to consider since different trims have different styles. The AT4, for example, has an off-road stance thanks to a higher suspension and all-terrain tires, but the Denali has an ornate and chromed grille. The projected style modifications for 2025 should be relatively mild and will almost certainly be complemented by new wheel designs. It’s usually a good idea to conduct some measuring to ensure that the Yukon will fit in your garage. The ordinary model is 17.5 feet long, while the XL is approximately 18.8 feet long.

Yukon Performance
A 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V8 dominates the GMC Yukon’s engine room. Even though there is no turbocharger to assist, this will suffice. However, we believe that anyone purchasing a Yukon XL with the purpose of carrying a large family and all of their belongings on road vacations should choose the more powerful 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower. Perhaps the even more powerful turbocharged 6-cylinder diesel engine that we expect to be available with the 2025 Yukon. This engine (which has previously been confirmed for the Tahoe and Suburban) produces 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque.
Given that the GMC Yukon is intended to be slightly more premium than its Chevy stablemates, it stands to reason that General Motors will implement the same suspension adjustments—done in the pursuit of greater comfort. Having said that, we’ve always been impressed by this generation’s smooth ride. The Yukon also has adjustable air suspension and Magnetic Ride Control for further comfort and control.
How gears are picked is a more driver-centric modification predicted for 2025. The prior push-button placement near the steering wheel was not intuitive in our opinion. It has now been replaced in the Tahoe and Suburban by a stalk on the steering column, which is much more user-friendly.
The Yukon is generally enjoyable to drive, if occasionally sluggish; in comparison, the Ford Expedition boasts a 380-horsepower turbocharged V6. We also point out that the Yukon is a full-size SUV or, even more significantly (the XL) and, hence, not the most straightforward vehicle to park or navigate through city traffic.

2025 GMC Yukon MPG
The current 2025 GMC Yukon could be more fuel efficient, but it’s slightly better around town than the last-generation model. Yukons equipped with the smaller 5.3-liter V-8 are the least-guzzling gasoline-powered models in the lineup, earning EPA ratings of 16 mpg city, 20 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined.
The diesel engine is predictably more efficient, earning ratings of up to 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. On our 75-mph highway fuel economy test route, our Denali test vehicle with the 6.2-liter returned 20 mpg. The last Tahoe we tested with the diesel returned an impressive 27 mpg, and the Yukon diesel should return similar fuel economy.
